William Chang commented that he was hooked on being a coach after several coaching and training camps around 2007. Not long after that, in his own words, \u201che stumbled on\u201d FCA, a ministry to train athletes in three dimensions: physical, mental and spiritual. That truly fired his whole being!!<\/p>\n
FCA has its origin in the United States of America.<\/p>\n
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is touching millions of lives\u2026 one heart at a time. Since 1954, in America and elsewhere, it has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ. William Chang said that FCA focuses on ministering to the heart of the coach first, and then through the coach by engaging them with the Four C\u2019s of Ministry, Coaches, Campus, Camps and Communities. Whereas the types of Coaches Ministry are: Coaches Huddles, Coaches Conventions, Training Clinics and Coaches Retreats.<\/p>\n Chang is passionate about coaching and feels that it is very important for Malaysian athletes to get all the help they can from coaches. He has the burden to raise Christian sports ministers and to bring FCA to the people of Malaysia. He and his friends also have burdens to raise more athletes and coaches from the indigenous people of Sarawak.<\/p>\n According to Chang,he is travelling with Kuw Foo Wong who was a national footballer in the 70\u2019s and Jarson who is a full time staff at FCA, and a state footballer for Johor, this trip.<\/p>\n In a four day camp in Miri, they have trained specifically 22 Penan coaches. They have been very touched by this experience. He added, \u201cThere is still so much we can do for Sarawak!\u201d<\/p>\n The FCA, Malaysia, is based in Ipoh and they have a few coaches to handle all the training all over Malaysia. They are also known as \u201cIpohBUG\u201d which meets every Sunday at YMCA Ipoh from 5pm to 7pm. Ipoh Bug is an inter-denominational sports evangelism tool started by William Chang from Elim Gospel Hall Ipoh in 2008. Before they left they took a group photo with Pastor Lenita, Robert Ting, Yung Teck Chung and Richard Wong.<\/p>\n (In the mid-70s, this is where the Malaysian team was most balanced and talented. Each player is like a superstar in their own right. They include: Mokhtar Dahari, Harun Jusoh, Santokh Singh, M. Chandran, Soh Chin Aun, R. Arumugam, Shaharuddin Abdullah, Wong Choon Wah, P. Umaparan, Wong Hee Kok, Shukor Salleh, Lim Fung Kee, Wong Kou Foo, Isa Bakar, Ali Bakar, Syed Ahmad, … If you have seen them in action, you would liken them to a very good Premier League team, seriously.
