It informed his theology and preaching. He expected the people called \u201cMethodists\u201d to pray this prayer at the beginning of each new year as a way of remembering and renewing their baptismal covenant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>AS we say goodbye to 2020, and hello to 2021, let\u2019s &#8212; the Methodist family &#8212; renew our covenant with God using this Wesley Covenant Prayer.<\/p>\n<p>[Traditional]<br \/>\nI am no longer my own, but thine.<br \/>\nPut me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.<br \/>\nPut me to doing, put me to suffering.<br \/>\nLet me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee,<br \/>\nexalted for thee or brought low for thee.<br \/>\nLet me be full, let me be empty.<br \/>\nLet me have all things, let me have nothing.<br \/>\nI freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.<br \/>\nAnd now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,<br \/>\nthou art mine, and I am thine.<br \/>\nSo be it.<br \/>\nAnd the covenant which I have made on earth,<br \/>\nlet it be ratified in heaven.<br \/>\nAmen.<br \/>\n(as used in the Book of Offices of the British Methodist Church, 1936)<\/p>\n<p>[Modern]<br \/>\nI am no longer my own, but yours.<br \/>\nPut me to what you will, rank me with whom you will;<br \/>\nput me to doing, put me to suffering;<br \/>\nlet me be employed for you, or laid aside for you,<br \/>\nexalted for you, or brought low for you;<br \/>\nlet me be full,<br \/>\nlet me be empty,<br \/>\nlet me have all things,<br \/>\nlet me have nothing:<br \/>\nI freely and wholeheartedly yield all things<br \/>\nto your pleasure and disposal.<br \/>\nAnd now, glorious and blessed God,<br \/>\nFather, Son and Holy Spirit,<br \/>\nyou are mine and I am yours.
