Rev Ting Ching Hua was a Foochow born in Sarikei on October 10, 1940. He studied in SJK (c) Su Ming Primary School and attended secondary school in Kuching and Sibu Methodist School. Wan Fu Methodist Church was his mother church.

He joined Methodist Theological School (MTS), Sibu, to study theology in 1964 and graduated in 1967. The Principal then was Dr. Helen Chou. In 1968 he married Grace Lau Meng Hung, his classmate at the seminary. They have 2 sons and 2 daughters: Daniel the elder son and Timothy. Rebecca, the elder daughter, graduated from a seminary and married Clement Tho Hsi Huat who is now pastoring in a Baptist Church in Singapore. The younger daughter Dorcas is a secondary school teacher while her husband Anthony Lee is a businessman.

After graduating from MTS, Rev Ting served at Siong Ing Methodist Church and Ming Ong Methodist Church in Bintulu in 1968 to 1969. Later he went to Limbang to take over his father’s business. After working for many years he realized that to share the gospel one should not just share by mouth alone; rather, one should mingle with the people and understand their needs.
