MTS Newsletter JUNE 2018: Journeying (A Note from the Principal)

with No Comments

As the semester is finally coming to an end, you could literally hear the sigh of relief from many of the students after a period of struggle and hard work. Their labor was not in vain. They are now enjoying a time of rest and to get ready for the challenges of another semester ahead. It is now another peak time for all the lecturers to grade papers.

Just before the semester ended, we celebrated a historic moment of MTS. The Bishop Ong Hwai Teck, Bishop of the Methodist Church in Malaysia inaugurated the Religion and Culture Centre (or RCC). This new Centre was set up under the initiative of and a birthing grant gift from the Indigenous Ministry Task Force, Missions Council of the General Conference of the Methodist in Malaysia. In conjunction with this auspicious occasion, the Centre has also invited two renowned speakers for a public lecture. We were glad to have Bishop Emeritus Rev. Dr. Hwa Yung as one of the speakers, who is also the consultant for this Centre, to grace the occasion. The Anglican Bishop of the Kuching Diocese, the Right Rev. Donald Jute, representatives from Prayer United Central Zone Sibu, District Superintendents and pastors were with us to witness this historic moment. The RCC was set up to foster interfaith relationship and dialogue. We pray that in days to come, the churches in Sarawak and beyond will be blessed through her ministry. We urge you support this ministry through your prayer and gift.

We are thankful to God for calling another 18 young and vibrant university/college students to join us in the STMS College program. We pray that they will encounter the living God and their lives will be transformed. God’s willing, MTS will be graduating some 20 students in 2018. We urge you to pray that the Lord of harvest will continue to call from among our churches people after His own heart to come to MTS.

May the Spirit of revival set our hearts aflame to build our nation and to labor for the advancement of His Kingdom!
