Fast for Three Days to seek the Will of God

Rev Dr Su Chii Ann has come to the end of his term of service as the President of SCAC this year. Rev Dr Tie King Tai, the current Principal of Methodist Theological School, Sibu, was successfully elected as the new President after the second round balloting with 213 votes. His term of office will be from 2017 to 2020.

According to the Book of Discipline, the candidate for the post of President should be a member for 12 years, that is, being an elder pastor for 12 years. At the same time he should not be more than 65 years old within the four-year-term of office. He could stay in office for three terms only. Apart from that, voting is by secret ballot with no pre-nomination. The candidate should have more than 2/3 majority of votes to be elected .This year there were 45 candidates who were eligible for the post. More than 300 delegates voted for the new President.

During the inauguration ceremony, Rev Tie expressed that he was nothing. He felt anxious about holding this new post. Thus, he would follow Queen Esther’s footstep to declare a three-day fast to seek the will of God, starting from 6-8 December. He also invited those who feel the same to fast and pray with him, for the country and the church.

Mr Hii Chang Kee who is currently the Resident of Sibu was elected the new Lay Leader of SCAC. He stated that we must work as a team. All of us should pray for the President and all the church leaders. The Deputies are James Lau Pan Yeu, Wong Sung Ging and Ronnie Hii Ru Wei.
