On the morning of November 24th, a special memorial service was conducted in memory of two great heavenly warriors, Rev Loh Hong Yiong (1935-2016) and Rev Cheng Yang Kao (1931-2016). Both families were invited for the service.

The Chairman of the present Board of Ministry, Rev Kong Chong Ling said in his prayer that both pastors had shown good testimonies during their life time. They had dedicated themselves to the Lord, to the Kingdom of God, to the church and the community. God will reward them abundantly. Rev Kong hoped that the good examples of these two late pastors would encourage us to focus purely on Jesus, serve him willingly according to our calling.

Rev Su Chii Ann also used Hebrew 11:1-2, 12: 1-2 to state that the two pastors were now in the list of the great cloud of witness. They had put their faith in Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of faith, trusting him in their ups and downs.

Rev Su also shared the examples of the two deceased whom we could emulate. They were good husbands, great fathers and outstanding pastors. Rev Loh was not only a pastor but also had multi-talents. He was good at carpentry and farming. He could cook and sew. He had lived a vibrant life. He was diligent, kind and amiable. He was also a man of great patience, bighearted and wise. Although he had retired, he was always willing to help whenever needed. He continued to help in the Iban ministry. During his ill-health, he was still showing his pleasant personality. He was indeed a devoted servant of God.

As for Rev Cheng, he too was a very good-natured person, soft spoken but very profound in handling affairs. He was humble and hardworking, serving the Lord whole-heartedly. He had demonstrated a good example in serving the Lord. His children and grand-children are all God fearing.

To sum up, Rev Su used Psalm 37:24 to encourage the two families saying, “Though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.”
