LOCALmissions: Local Missions Field: PROSPECTS

with No Comments

Evangelism in Sarawak should not disregard the indigenous people groups who make up over half of the population of Sarawak. Thus the indigenous people ministry in Sarawak deserves more support in terms of strategic planning, resources and manpower.

Much Work to be Done
Extra hard work to reach out to them, to share with them the good news in schools, longhouses, churches, through school teachers, missionaries, pastors and church members must be in our vision and mission. Any willing hand, regardless of age, can help in this ministry.

The Daniel Project
A group of young Chinese has come out to spread the gospel to the indigenous youths, disciple-making them, guiding them and challenging them to go into this full time ministry, to be called “Daniel Project”. The reasons are: they are helping the indigenous people to strengthen their faith, training them to be leaders of the times and getting them to influence their fellow indigenous people. These three aspects are in reflection of Daniel’s life.

Bible Translation
The Ministry to Sarawak Indigenous People (MSIP) of Board of Evangelism is working on the translation of the Bible into their languages. This is a new area so the Ministry is working with SIL, learning and making progress. Evangelism, coming to faith, disciple-making and literature ministry are areas of importance. Therefore we are doing our best to help retain them literature. Working for this ministry is difficult but worthwhile. May our Lord help us.

More hands needed
The Board of Evangelism (BOE) has nine missionaries currently, and looking forward to having at least another two to join next year. It is a big mission field and more missionaries are needed. Church members and pastors with the calling are welcome to contact us. We also welcome you to share with us your vision and if feasible BOE will arrange for you to go to the relevant mission field as missionary.

We are convinced that God is also moving you and leading you to see the direction and place.

Finally let Philippians 1:7 remind and encourage us :
“It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.”
