Newsletter MTS: A Note from the Principal

The Lord is good to us in 2019. At the end of October, MTS celebrated the graduation of 26 students from various programmes. We were blessed by Rev. Dr. T. Jeyakumar, president of TRAC, for his encouraging words especially for the graduands. MTS is now quiet: all our students have gone for their fieldwork and the lecturers are grading papers. Many, including the staff are clearing their leave to take time off for rest.

After a year of preparation supported by Bethel Theological Seminary, Hong Kong, MTS will introduce a Clinical Pastoral Integration course to M. Min students and later to all final year students in 2020. This professional course requires the students to gather their clinical experiences in their home or hospital visitations as materials for growth. In a supervised mode of learning and constant reflection and action, the students are made more aware of themselves and be able to integrate their own lives, theology and pastoral skills and knowledge.

We at MTS are getting ready to welcome 9 new full-time students in our theological and Music and Worship programmes. More than 120 are expected to join us for various short-term missions school programmes in the coming year. In the second half of 2020, we will also be welcoming the first batch of BM Pre-Theo students getting them ready for BM theological programme beginning 2021. For all these, we are turning our eyes upon Jesus to bring them to completion. We therefore solicit your prayer and support. Not by might nor by power but by the Spirit of the Lord! (Zech. 4:6)

Advent is here and Christmas is round the corner. This season calls us not only for joyous preparation for the celebration of Christ’s birth, it also alerts us to a hopeful anticipation of Christ’s second coming. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrew 10:24 – 25)

Let me take this opportunity to wish you a blessed and joyous Christmas
