The Mission Conference of the Chinese Methodist Church in New Zealand successfully held its Annual Conference from 18-20 March 2016 in New Zealand’s capital city, Wellington. In addition to our pastors and lay representatives from member churches, we also invited our founding Pastor Reverend Joel Siew and the Bishop of the Australian Chinese Methodist Church Annual Conference, Reverend Dr. James Kwang, to join the event.
They both imparted many valuable insights and recommendations. Reverend Ngu King Ming of the Chinese
Methodist Church in Papua New Guinea also attended the conference as a special guest.
The objectives of the Chinese Methodist Church in New Zealand Mission Conference were:
1. To promote awareness, communication, fellowship, sharing, learning and encouragement among the Chinese Methodist Churches in New Zealand.
2. To present consensus recommendations, strengthen connections, help one another; through sharing and discussion regarding issues and ministry, to agree upon common practices, arrangements and recommendations.
3. To update reports from member churches, pray for each other, and discuss emergent trends and future problems the church will face in order to prepare counter-measures as soon as possible.
During the conference, the pastors-in-charge from respective churches reported on their ministries and experiences gained over the past year. This was followed by the Mission Conference Board’s presenting their ministry plans, goals and outlook for the coming year.
