MISSIONS: Dancing with Cows in THE VILLAGE

with No Comments

Before the trip to Cambodia I thought that it was going to be one of those mission trips where you share the gospel with the people and go home. I also didn’t put much expectation into our living quarters over there and thought that we would go to sleep at 7 when the sun sets because there was no electricity.

It was only when I reached Cambodia that I realized how wrong I was. The city itself resembled nothing like the rumors I heard. I was again proven wrong when we headed to the village on our second day. There was electricity, bathroom stalls, a lot of water and even mosquito nets. They even had mobile phones in the village!

During the 4 days we stayed in the village I experienced many things that we city people will not be able to experience. I got to bring the cows out to feed, breathe very fresh air and most of all, enjoying God’s wonderful creation. It was my first time evangelizing to other people and I did not expect that I myself would grow spiritually while sharing the gospel. With every house that we shared the gospel to I realized that we were growing stronger in our love for God. We also got to celebrate Christmas with the villagers on the last day we were there. It left me in awe to see that in just 4 mere days we were able to spread the love of God to the villagers.

Looking back on this trip, I learned a great many things, both earthly and spiritually.

Everywhere we went God was always at work, transforming the lives of people around us. He guided us, protected us, blessed us and used us to do His marvelous work that more and more people may enter his kingdom when the time comes.

I went on this trip with no thought that it would affect me in any way, but after the trip I think that we were the ones blessed. I would like to thank our brother Lui Siang, who had been part of the planning process and one of the reasons we were able to go on this trip and also Bryan, who served as an “encourager” and medic to us.

I come home knowing truly that no matter where we are or who we are, God is always there for us, now and forevermore.

If you have not been on a mission trip before, I strongly urge you to GO. You would be amazed by the many wonders that God will bring into your life and also the many wonderful experiences you will gain.
