The late Rev. Loh Hong Yiong was generous, full of love, selfless in treating others, friendly towards people and treated all co-workers like brothers. Because of that church members have very high regard for him.

Rev. Loh always tried his very best in all undertakings and never declined any church ministerial requests. Around a year ago he fell very sick and rested in the Lord on the Feb 2, 2016 at 10:00 am. He was 81 years old.

In the memorial service held on Feb 6, Rev Ling Tuo Shun delivered an eulogy of Rev. Loh. In 1964 Rev. Loh was the secretary of the Youth Ministry, he set out the ministry of gospel work with the Hakkas and Hokkiens and at the same time he had to raise fund. At that time Rev. Ling was a theological student and was working with Rev. Loh, thus they established a profound friendship.

According to Rev Ling, Rev. Loh was born in 1935 to a Christian family in Penasu. He knew about our Lord since young and upon completion of junior secondary school he gave his life to serve the Lord. He undertook theological education in Methodist Theological School and upon graduation in 1962 he served in the Methodist Church as a full time pastor for over 35 years.

In his years of service Rev. Loh shepherded 16 churches. He was ordained as Deacon in 1966 and in 1990 he was ordained an Elder. In the year 2000 when he retired at the age of 65, he continued to minster in churches until fully retired in 2005. After retirement he stayed in Ulu Sungai Merah which is within the parish of Chiew Chuo Methodist Church. Rev. Loh helped in Chiew Chuo MC and when the Pastor-in-charge went overseas to further his studies, he served in the church full time. Rev. Loh had set a good example for the younger generation.

Rev. Loh was married in 1965. They have three girls and two boys. Two boys and two girls went to US to further their studies and stayed back in US. The youngest son followed the footsteps of the father by becoming a Pastor and is now pastoring a church in US. It is so rare that father and son serve the Lord together.

May the all-loving Lord bless Mrs. Loh and her offspring that they will always serve and shine for the Lord.
