LIVING: Memory Disk

with No Comments

One very important thing I learned in secondary school was to always have a “To do list”, a habit I still have most of the time. But if I can remember without a “to do list”, it is even better.

It is most annoying when I forget one or two things which I need to buy. Sometimes they can be left out for the day. But sometimes, they are urgently needed. And there goes some frustration in the day.

The other good point in life is “never leave the house without…..” Three things I must never leave home without as I drive alone most of the time. First is my handphone and its power bank and of course all the cables. Next is my purse with all the important cards. Third is the memory disk in my camera which I do carry most of the time, it is small and often taken out for uploading into my computer. I do have three spare ones which I keep in my drawer.

One day I was driving off for a “mission”, to meet up with a senior citizen for her stories and laments, I had my camera in its comfortable sling bag and I “believed” I had all the rest

Along the way I would normally sing “God is so Good” to pep myself up for the day. And then I suddenly reaslised (and very sick in my stomach) that I had not checked my camera before I left home. The traffic happened to be very heavy that morning and I had driven more than 10 km away from home. Perhaps I could buy a new memory disk which is not too expensive.

When I reached my destination my senior friend was very happy to see me and she brought two other friends to meet me. She said, “See my memory is still very good and I can remember to come here to meet you!!” I was impressed by her enthusiasm but I was annoyed by my own forgetfulness.

We talked for two hours over a simple tea and noodle feast. But she realized also that I was a bit “off”. I prayed for God’s help that I could buy a memory disk nearby. But as I scanned the environment there was no computer shop nearby. I was so distressed.

She asked,” Have you forgotten something? Do you need to go off somewhere?” She was so intuitive.

I told her about my forgetfulness. She then told me that if I searched my bag again I might find one. I took out all my possessions in my bag and checked everything, one by one while she and her friends talked about having good memories and being forgetful.

Indeed, I found one memory disk tugged in the corner of my spare purse and we had a nice and happy photo session. God was definitely at work!!

God works in simple ways. He saved my day with the help of three kind ladies. He also gave me time to “recover” my memory disk.

We must never leave home without bringing God with us.

May God be with you and I ALWAYS.
