The charismatic movement for the past more than one cen¬tury has brought awareness of
the Holy Spirit to churches world-wide. MTS is without exception. Our recently-revised mission statement reads: “Spirit-empowered training for God’s people to be Christ-like leaders and servants in proclaim¬ing Christ to the glory of God.”
“Him We Proclaim” has been the motto of MTS for over 15 years be¬fore it was made clearer to become “Christ We Proclaim” in 2011.
When we proclaim Christ with our lips and lives, the Holy Spirit is more than pleased to fill us up to empow¬er us because the Spirit has come to witness for Christ through us¬ Christ’s disciples (Acts 1 :8).
The question now is how we can be filled by the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) to proclaim Christ (Colossians 1 :28) in a theological school setting where¬by the traditional emphasis has been on academic and scholarly achieve-ments?
Without neglecting this traditional emphasis, MTS has also empha¬sized spiritual formation (filled by the Spirit) and practical fieldworks (Christ we proclaim). Spiritual for¬mation includes daily personal de¬votions, Tuesday-Friday morning chapels and family group gatherings at 5: 15-6: 15 am, Thursday night fast¬ing and prayer meetings, etc. Practi¬cal fieldworks include weekly Friday evangelistic outreaches, weekly weekend ministries, annual Missions Awareness Week with seminar and missions trips, annual overseas mis-sions trip, etc.
Of course, lectures, assignments and other activities are also important in transforming MTS community lives. Activities such as giving in work of mercy, gardening, exercising, even eating, playing and sleeping are all important parts of experiencing the Holy Spirit and proclaiming Christ in and through MTS community to the church and the world. MTS aims to be a holistic training center.
That boils down to MTS Vision: “Serve the Church and the world by being a holistic training center.”
MTS aims to serve the church and the world by being holistic in training leaders and servants to be filled by the Spirit as commanded in Ephe-sians 5:18 “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit” in order to have the power to proclaim Christ as exemplified by Apostle Paul in Colossians 1 :28 “He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.”
