During MCO, my church was using Zoom to get our Sunday School going. We are very clear that teaching the Word of God to the children is our responsibility. No matter under what situation, the Word of God is everlasting. However, learning to use this application for the first time was nerve- wracking. Praise the Lord, our class was the first to try the application and was soon followed by other classes.
Through this online app we were able to observe Palm Sunday, Last Supper, Good Friday, Easter, Parents’ Day and Sunday Worship together. We were thankful for the cooperation of the parents to allow their children to learn the words of God from a young age. When we saw the keen anticipation of the children each Sunday, we were greatly encouraged. This has been the momentum for me to continue this project.
Protecting
our Children
During this unusual time, we need unusual measures to foster our relationship with the children, and to strengthen their faith in God. We were often hacked and disturbed by heresy, especially the “Eastern Lightning”. They filtrated into our web-sites and preyed on our sheep. Outwardly, they are peaceful looking people but they are wolves wearing lamb skins. They tried to sweet talk our church members into joining their communities and then poison their weak minds by joining their flock. After that, they used them to attack fellow brothers and sisters. The enemies are in the dark and we become the easy target.
John 10:10 says “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” The ‘thief’ as mentioned by Jesus could be those hackers and heresy spreaders today, who secretly acted in darkness, causing harm and loss of money to our fellow Christians. It is practically everywhere now.
Honestly speaking, I fear heresy more than hackers. I am afraid that the words of God would be neglected during this abnormal time, my Sunday school students would alienate from God, or they might be cheated while using the online apps, leaving the Lord. I felt indebted if we do not do our best to protect them.
As 1 Peter 5:8 put it: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” While trying not to let the students be devoured by the ‘lion’, let us teachers try our best to teach them the words of God so that they know their faith well, and that they will keep the words of God and be shielded by the Lord!
