Ken Leben, Director of Sarawak Immigration, Department, held an open house for guests during Gawai celebration in his house, at Sungai Aup, Sibu.

Among the guests were Mr. Albert Lau, Chairman of Sibu Lau Clan Association, Mr. Ying Tieng Chai, Chairman of Sibu Foochow Association, and Kapitan Lau Hieng Wuong, Chairman of Mingchiang Association, Sibu. Friends from Taiwan also enjoyed the occasion.

Ken Leben is a local boy from Sungai Aup, Sibu, a long house near the Igan bridge.

His house was full of guests from all races who came to wish him and his family members a blessed Gawai, a traditional thanksgiving festival after the harvest of paddy and other crops.

Rev Steward Damat, the President of Sarawak Iban Annual Conference, of the Methodist Church in Malaysia, welcomed his guests from various churches at his long house in Tuai Rumah Melina, Sungai Apong, Melangan.

This long house is situated near Bawang Assan long house, on the road to Tanjung Manis.
